Kayaking last weekend off of Simpson's point. It was a bit breezy, but not too choppy. Most of the photos I took while out in open water weren't very good, due to wave-wobble and sea spray, but here are a few. This first is entering a sheltered cove where we found respite from the wind for a few minutes.
Here's one of Maine's seven peaks named "Bald Mountain." This one's in Woodstock, although you'd never know, as access is through Sumner (and finding the trail ain't entirely easy). We climbed it Sunday. We were planning to climb Streaked (to the right), but ran out of time and weather. We saw & heard plenty of wildlife - warblers, ravens, vultures gliding; brown trout rising in the lake; bumble bees and black flies. Especially black flies. The view from the top was spectacular. The water in the lakes was clear and inviting. I hope to go back to climb both later in the summer.
Someone had gone piled up a bunch of trash that accumulated on Morse Mt. beach over winter, mostly lobster traps.
The weather doesn't matter, Morse is always a good trip. This is looking down from the 'mountain,' about half way to the beach from the parking lot.

Here are some photos from a recent kayaking expedition to Runaround Pond in Pownal. We saw painted turtles & plenty of interesting birds and heard peepers and wood frogs. And no humans but us. It was serene.
We've had a lot of rain over the last couple of days. Combined with the spring melt coming down the river from the mountains, the Androscoggin River's really roaring. Here are a couple of photos and a short video (turn the sound on).
I was riding my bike yesterday & this man was plowing the lower CSF field with his team of horses.
The sheep are out. And curious. These photos are from a trip to Crystal Spring Farm (CSF) last Saturday.
CSF is up high, but it's also flat at the top of the hill, so it's a great place for sunsets and moonrises.
