Ex Machina
One of my favorite aspects of riding trains is that they often travel through the most industrial --and most interesting-- parts of towns. I shot the following photos as we were passing through Massachusetts. The sun was setting, and I (for obvious reasons) couldn't use flash or long exposure, which I feel has lent them a vintage, almost otherworldly atmosphere.

When I see industrial clusters like these I always wonder who thought or designed and assigned a purpose to these things? The ingenuity is astonishing no matter how rusted out, dented, or forgotten the objects are.
