I've been busy lately (and not taking many pictures), thus I've neglected this blog. A few things have happened; among them, Halloween was most awesome. I dyed my hair purple:
I just ordered a new camera to replace my old broken one. It's a Canon PowerShot SX10, and it looks like this:
The only downside is that I had to completely re-outfit my camera supplies... I ended up buying memory, a case, a lens/filter adapter, UV filter, and lens cap, rechargeable batteries and a charger for them, and a USB card reader. Pricey!
I'm very excited about my digital photo class. We learned how to use the enormous fancy Epson printers yesterday, and I can't wait to get started. I'm going over to the photo department today to see if I can borrow a camera until mine arrives.
I got my studio space today -- very exciting! It's small but has good overhead lighting and some shelving. I also got the two big plastic footlockers I ordered for it, which was excellent timing. I'll be moving things over later this week.
I've had all my classes but one thus far, and it seems like this term is going to be a lot of fun, and probably also a lot of work. My first project for my major studio class is to spend thirty days developing a ritual for practice, creating something each day. I'm fairly certain I want the theme to be an exploration of my feelings of home and heritage; I'll be calling it East of the Sun.
Also, I got a haircut.
I've just finished up the semester. My final Illustration project was done for an "Earth Day" theme. I chose to illustrate a deer-woman spirit. My teacher didn't think it fit the assignment well enough, but I don't really care. Here's the sketch (which I wound up liking better than the final colored piece):
Also, my previous post made the explore page, which was a great surprise! Thanks, Vox!
My latest project for 3D Fabrication involves over 100 lollipops set up in a row. The idea behind the project is that the colors do not match the flavors, so what we ordinarily expect is turned on its head. Here are some shots of the project:
Yellow = Blackberry
Orange = Licorice
Red = Spearmint
Green = Pineapple
Blue = Mango
Purple = Lime

We've spent most of the semester in my Graphic Design class working on one single piece (in a variety of different ways). That piece is an 8"x8" square containing the following text:
