Yesterday was my last day at home for Thanksgiving break, and also my brother's nineteenth birthday.  Before the celebration, my family went out to Harpswell to take in some scenery.  And boy, was it windy.  First we went to Stover's Point:

Then we drove over to Mitchell Field, which is a lovely coastal place with a very weird bunch of abandoned industrial buildings.  Here are a couple:

Yesterday was the First Friday Art Walk, but before I sat around trying to sell stuff, my father and I spent a lovely part of the afternoon walking around Two Lights State Park in Cape Elizabeth and taking photos:

I was walking down India Street on Saturday when a man appeared beside me.  "You want to take my picture," he stated.  I wasn't sure if it was an accusation or a demand, so I just shrugged.  "How do I pose?" he asked.  I mumbled something about lighting as he stared into my lens.  I snapped a picture:

"You have it," the man said, "for posterity?"  I answered in the affirmative, and he seemed pleased. I am pleased too, to have gotten such an expressive picture!

I happened to wake up early a few nights ago and I caught a beautiful sunrise.  As a counterpart to the sunset photo I posted recently, here it is:

Also, I managed to get most of the rust off my keys.  Hooray!

I'm back at MECA now, meeting all the new people and waiting for classes to start (Tuesday).  I have a nice sunny single room on the top/fifth floor of the dorms.  Here are a couple photos of my view, which is a lot more exciting than it was last term... I can even see the ocean!

Our boat trip yesterday ended just after dark, meaning we got to see the sunset from the boat.  It was beautiful!

Blog Action Day

I don't have anything prepared specifically for Blog Action Day -- if you follow East of the Sun, you probably already know my feelings on the environment -- but I wanted to make sure to take advantage of the chance to advocate for one of my favorite causes.

It was, as you can see, very low tide... and the water was still draining away!  That's Mere Point across the mud flats.
